Talking And Listening Kids:

The Foothill SELPA’s TALK Program

The Foothill SELPA’s TALK Program meets the language and listening needs of preschoolers who are deaf or hard of hearing. The class was designed by a committee which included parents, school administrators, attorneys and experts in the field of audiology, speech/language pathology, education of the deaf and hard of hearing and early childhood education.

The result is a program that emphasizes the development of listening, speaking and language skills in an environment that is acoustically appropriate for children who have cochlear implants or wear hearing aids. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate and facilitates the child’s motor, communication, play, social and self-help skills. The class is taught by a fully credentialed teacher who has expertise in the areas of speech and language development and the education of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The TALK Program is located on an elementary school campus in La Canada, and serves preschool and kindergarten age students from districts throughout the Foothill SELPA.
